First South American pontiff
Pope Francis, the first non-European pontiff of the modern era, has been revealed to the world from a balcony at the Vatican. The former Cardinal Jorge Bergogolio of Argentina asked the crowd in St. Peter's Square to bless him as he started his new "journey."
